My First Income Report

My First Income Report

I love reading bloggers income reports and since I’ve been wanting to work on monetizing my own blog, I wanted to share my first income report. These numbers are from blogging as well as a few other apps I use to make money. Right now I am a SAHM but I want to be able to earn money from home. I’m still figuring out what works and what doesn’t but here’s what I earned in the month of April:

  • Ads (Google Adsense): $.07
  • Affiliates: $.00
  • Freelancing: $8.00
  • Shopping Apps: $19.78

Right now these are the 4 things that I earned money from, and now I’ll break it down even more.

Ads, specifically Google Ads: $0.07

Besides affiliates (which I only just started) this was my lowest income amount and I’m not sure if I’ll keep ads on my site or not. Because I don’t have a lot of traffic yet (I got 200 views last month, which I’m grateful for since this blog is new!) I didn’t earn much from ads. That’s okay. I’ve never had ads on my site before and I just wanted to see what I could earn by having them on my site. I know that Google Adsense also doesn’t pay very much, do you use a different Ad site?

Affiliate Programs: $0.00

Right now I’m signed up for Amazon, Book Depository, Site Ground, and a few others. This month or next I plan on taking the course “making sense of affiliate marketing” to learn how to best do this as a blogger! Because right now I know very little about affiliate marketing, but I want to learn more!

Freelancing: $8

This $8 actually came from a blog post I wrote on Blogmutt back at the end of 2017. Blogmutt was a good way for me to learn how to write blog posts for other people. I occasionally still write a post on there, but because I don’t do it often, I don’t sell posts often which means lower income. Right now I’m not looking to freelance, but that may be something I do more of in the future.

Shopping Apps: $19.78

This is where I earned the most income during April. I love using these apps because it’s money that comes straight back to you after shopping. The two main apps I used are Ibotta and Ebates.

With ibotta, you scan your receipt after shopping and you get money back for the different offers they have on the app. I always check the app before shopping to see if there’s any rebates for items I’m already buying. Then I save the rebate and scan my receipt after I’m done shopping. You can get $10 just by signing up here. It’s definitely worth it to me because I’m shopping anyway and I want to earn money back when I can!

I also use Ebates for when I shop online. Not every store is connected but Amazon is for something’s and so is Sam’s Club. I buy diapers and dog food online a lot because it’s cheaper! Plus any other online shopping I do I can earn money back. You can get $10 back + whatever % the store has from your first purchase (over $25) if you sign up using my link! If you online shop as much as I do, you need this in your life!

I’m still learning how to make an income blogging and writing and using these apps, but it’s always a thrill to see that little number go into my bank account. I may not make the big bucks, but I’m adding some money (however small) into our savings account and that’s something that I’m proud of. I’m grateful for what I earned in April. It’s not a huge amount like some bloggers make, but I am just starting on this journey. Im excited to see where it takes me. I’d love to be able to write from home full time, so that’s the ultimate goal. Do you make money from your blog? If so, where have you seen the most success?! Share your tips with this newbie!
